Why is grain free so important in pet food?

• Amylase is an enzyme found in the saliva of humans and some mammals which starts the digestion process.
• It’s needed to help breakdown starchy carbohydrates like those found in grains.
• Dogs don’t have amylase in their saliva which is why a grain free diet is often thought to be kinder on their digestion.
